The Science Hub: Supporting schools and educators across the East of England
We are a school led Science Hub, based at The Hertfordshire & Essex High School. We offer a programme for teachers of science and science technicians that is responsive to their needs and the needs of young people in their region.
We have various subscription packages for schools and Trusts.
We provide a varied programme of online and face to face courses and events to support primary schools in delivering an engaging science curriculum.
Our secondary and post 16 programme focuses on subject knowledge enhancement and subject specific pedagogy to support science teachers and leaders at all stages of their careers.
We provide online and face to face, hands on courses designed to develop experienced science technicians and those new to the role.
Our exciting student events take place throughout the year to inspire young people in STEM and raise aspirations.
Who we are
Science Hub Lead
Claire Ruthven
Claire leads their Science Hub programme and has been teaching science and A' Level Biology for over 24 years, and is an experienced facilitator of over 10 years. She is a lead practitioner at The Hertfordshire & Essex High School and leads the Science hub programme, and has recently completed her NPQSL.. Passionate about Teaching & Learning, Claire champions STEM education and raising the aspirations of all young people.
Project Officer
Lucy Cook
Lucy supports operations and co-ordinates the CPD programme. With experience in marketing, business development and event management, she manages course bookings and resources, communications with schools and keeps the Hub’s activities running smoothly.
